Skyr as a biological cultural heritage

The objective of the project is to research the exclusively Icelandic dairy product Skyr as a biological cultural heritage. By combining ethnography and biology, the focus will be on exploring the long-term relationships (social and biological) between multiple forms/types of Skyr and investigating how they have shaped practices, memories and knowledge over generations.

Skyr sem líffræðilegur menningar

Markmið verkefnisins er að rannsaka hina sér-íslensku mjólkurafurð skyr sem líffræðilegur menningararf. Með því að sameina þjóðfræði og líffræði, verður lögð áhersla á að kanna langtímatengsl (félagsleg og líffræðileg) milli margra tegunda skyrgerðar og rannsaka hvernig þær hafa mótað venjur, minni og þekkingu í gegnum tíðina.
